Ubuntu is a South African term meaning “humanity,” often translated as “I am because we are." The essence of this is what embodies our story circles — an opportunity for birthing persons to connect and find power from their experiences. Understanding through the bond of sharing we uplift ourselves, but in doing so, we also uplift our community.

This is a POC (people of color) safe space. *THIS EVENT WILL NOT BE RECORDED*

Black Birth Matters Conference

Black Birth Matters is a day-long conference which will feature a series of workshops, panel discussions, open dialogue, art, and healing on issues at the intersections of birth and social justice. All are welcome; however Black birth experiences will be centered. Our conference theme this year is: “Mind over Matter: Mental Health & Mothering.” To develop holistic approaches to correct the poor maternal outcomes that plague Women of Color in the US, we must center mental health and well-being. All funds raised during this event will be used to provide doula services to low income families of color in New Orleans free of charge.
